Action Alert: President Barack Obama said of Americans in a speech delivered in Turkey: “We do not consider ourselves a Christian nation or a Jewish nation or a Muslim nation. We consider ourselves a nation of citizens who are bound by ideals and a set of values.”
And yet, the Preamble to the Constitution of every state in the United States refers to a higher power, meaning, according those constitutions, Americans do indeed consider themselves to be a nation of Christians, Jews, Muslims – and more.
Did Mr. Obama misspeak – or was he giving Americans and the world a sneak peek at the secular aspirations of his administration and the new world order? Either way, do you support the president – or do you take offense at his statment?
